ShopLocal SmartCircular Users Can Now Tweet Right From The Online Weekly Ads

Who isn’t on Twitter these days? That really is the question. It’s basically every day that yet another trade rag article is published on how a business is using Twitter in an innovative and customer engaging manner.
ShopLocal just completed our one-click Twitter integration to allow users of our online circular product called SmartCircular to easily share and post both an overall promotion of interest and/or an individual item of interest with their Twitter friends / network.
This new SmartCircular add-on feature takes all of the complexity into account of creating a suggested message (called a tweet) that includes many pieces of local and dynamic information such as in the case of an item of interest the:
- Retailer’s name
- Item’s title
- Item’s corresponding deep link back to that exact view within the SmartCircular site that contains the item # and store # so that the exact item that was shared can easily be retrieved
In this tweet submission process, ShopLocal is also managing the overall character count of the tweet to the required 140 characters or less limitation that Twitter imposes. This also means that the rather long, parameter laden SmartCircular deep link is also being shortened, which happens seamlessly in the background via TinyURL
The best part of this type of sharing is that the Twitter message actual comes from the individual users. So true organic word-of-mouth type marketing. Your users are actually the carriers of your promotional message. And unlike most other mediums, all of this viral distribution occurs entirely for free.

Right from any item detail page, a user can now very easily create a tweet to their Twitter friends about the item or offer of interest.

Then once a user decides to post a promotion or item up to Twitter, a suggested "tweet" or update message is generated and the user can either simply submit or make any updates to it prior to updating their status. Note all the areas in yellow highlighting are the pieces of dynamic data that are being inserted into the suggested message in an attempt to make the sharing process as simple and easy as possible for the user.
